New Developments
Newsletter January 2014
Happy New Year and welcome to our first newsletter of 2014 which gives me the opportunity to tell you about the many exciting developments taking place at Rodwell Farm.
New Development Gets Green Light
We are delighted to announce that we have finally got planning permission to go ahead with our new care home development here at Rodwell Farm. The new 76 bed home will enable us to offer relationship centred care within modern, spacious state of the art facilities, purpose built to cater for the complex needs of our elderly and physically disabled residents.
Our new development will also include care suites which residents will be able to either rent or buy. Care suites combine the freedom and privacy of living in your own home with the peace of mind of having specialised care and nursing on hand. This innovative way of offering supported living is a viable alternative to the traditional nursing home and has proved a great success in other Graham Care developments including those at Kettlewell House and Hazeldene House.
The building work will start on 1 March and we are aiming to move residents into their new accommodation in July 2015. Our existing building will be demolished and the plot turned into a community park, giving our new home a lovely green outlook and providing a useful amenity for residents and staff alike.
We are all very excited by this news and would like to say a special thank you to Councillor Terry Dicks who has championed this new development through all its (sometimes painful!) stages. We will be posting regular updates on our website but if there is any aspect of our new development you would like to discuss please get in touch.
Rodwell Farm Highly Commended at Surrey Care Awards
It was a great honour to be shortlisted for the Surrey Care Awards 2013 and to be Highly Commended in the Excellence in Workforce Development or Training category at the gala Awards ceremony held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in November.
The prestigious Surrey Care Awards, organised by Surrey Care Association, help raise the profile of the adult social care sector in the county by celebrating the achievements of care staff and showcasing the good practice of Surrey’s care providers.
Coming soon – the Graham Care Awards
We are currently developing our own awards scheme to recognise the achievements of staff working in all our departments. We are planning to gather testimonials from residents, their relatives and friends as well as care professionals, and aiming to have a celebration event towards the end of the year. Look out for updates on our website and forthcoming newsletters.
Keeping in touch with RESILINK
With our RESILINK service relatives and friends of our residents can view online care plans as well as daily reports written by our care staff. Some relatives are using this service every day to keep in touch with the day to day life of their loved ones.
Please have your say!
From Amazon to Trip Advisor, online customer reviews and positive recommendations are now a vital decision making tool for people buying goods or services and social care is no exception. We really value the independently verified feedback and reviews from relatives and care professionals which can be seen on our website. These reviews are fed into relevant websites such as NHS Choices which help families make important decisions on the care of their loved ones. It’s very easy to leave a review or a comment on the Disc Directory service that we use so I urge you to have a go!
