New Developments
Newsletter April/May 2014
Welcome to our May newsletter. Our thoughts are now turning to the warm days of summer and in particular to two keenly anticipated annual events in the Rodwell Farm calendar!
Summer Fair and Garden Party
With William Shakespeare’s 450th birthday as our inspiration, this year our fair has a distinctly Tudor flavour with a mediaeval dance troupe, a birds of prey display and a hog roast. Family and friends are very welcome to join the fun and can even come in fancy dress! Sunday 29 June from 3-5pm.
New Haw and Woodham Mid Summer event
For the last eight years we have sponsored this event in New Haw’s Heathervale Park. For the second year running we are sponsoring and, let’s be honest, organising the Dog Show! Last year we helped raise over £200 for the community as well informing local people about the work we do here at Rodwell Farm. So if your pooch is a Cruft’s top dog, a companionable scruff or even if you don’t have a dog, just come along and say hello on Saturday 21 June.
The Graham Care Awards
The Graham Care Awards for Outstanding Service have been created to celebrate the achievements of staff who are transforming the lives of people with dementia and physical frailty. In contrast to many other care awards which are based on peer nominations, we will be asking residents, their relatives and friends, as well as the care professionals we work with, to nominate individual staff members. Nomination forms will be available later in the year. The gala Awards celebration will take place on the evening of Friday 14 November at the Felbridge Hotel and Spa.
Keep in touch with our Social Networking
One innovative way we encourage family members to stay in touch is with our simple social networking system. Friends and relatives can register their mobile phone number and communicate with our residents using text messaging. Each resident is assigned a social assistant who will help them read all the messages that are sent. Messages can also be sent directly via the website if this is more convenient than texting on a phone. Click here for more details.
Please review our service!
We really value the independently verified feedback and reviews from relatives and care professionals which can be seen on our website. These reviews are fed into relevant websites such as NHS Choices which help families make important decisions on the care of their loved ones. It’s very quick and easy to leave a review or a comment via the website or on the Disc Directory service that we use.
